To dog lovers, with love

This blog post is dedicated to all dog lovers in the world, especially my best buddy, 'Daph' and her doggie 'Splash' :-)
I have never been enthusiastic about dogs , when i was a kid. In fact i was a lot intimidated by them, especially during evening walks on the road. Whenever i encountered a dog on the road, i would often cry out "Maaaa the dog is looking at me!,Pls carry me , else the dog will eat me up !!"
My mom, being the patient person that she is, would carry me whenever we were taking my bro to his tennis classes.
But Things have changed recently. It all began when my parents left me at my Aunt's
Place in the month of May to attend my Bro's grad in the US[ Thanks to our Anna University Exams, i couldn't go ] :-(
One hot morning, my cousin bro came running excitedly saying that he had bought a one month old Pug puppy. :-)

Day 1 with pup: All of us seemed excited about the pup and played with it for hours together. Something about the pup, brought us warmth and happiness that one would have on a warm Sunday afternoon , curling up with their favorite book. :-)
The puppy was so tiny and delicate and it felt so nice to stroke it gently. All of us took turns to pamper him, feed him and put him to bed. But when the dog excreted, no one would want to clean the mess :-D
Sadly, only my cousin, for the fate of being the dogs master, had to do such chores with the custom made doggie tools bought at the pet shop. :-)
Well if u ask me, I would rather train my doggie to excrete in a potty, just the way Jim Carrey trains his dog in the movie "Bruce Almighty".... Hehe :-)

Day 2:
The dog had already become a lot attached to us and played with us with his round adorable eyes always filled with excitement. He had become so used to all the pampering we showered on him the previous day and started demanding for more and more each progressing day. :-)
He is such a smart pup and could actually distinguish between human males and females. When he felt all drowsy and needed some warmth, he would come closer to a girl and sleep on her skirt, expecting her to stroke him with her soft and gentle hands, until the young master reaches a state of nirvana and slowly drowses to sleep. And, if he was energetic and bubbling with energy, he would prefer the guys to run around and play with. Smart dog Ain't he? :-)
Well, I dunno why I analyze each and everything on planet earth, but i presume that i can understand animal Psychology and I take pride in it :-)

Day 3: The Baptizing Day
Only on the third day, did it strike us that we had to name our smart puppy with a nice name. Random names like Biscuit, Casper, Peppers etc. struck us, but neither of us were convinced with the name that the other person chose and there were ego problems like "I won't accept the name that you choose", as well.
Finally, i was thinking so hard... If i had a pup, what would i name it?
I would either name it 'Lolita' or 'Angel'.
"Lolita" is suitable only for females, but what about "Angel"?
I put forth the idea , and my girl cousins liked it, but not my cousin bro. He said "For your kind info, it is a male dog and 'Angel' is suitable only for females!"
I explained two factors to him:
1) Firstly, the dog has just five senses and it is not gonna grow up, being confused as to what gender it actually is, cos the name is misleading.
2) Secondly, who said that there are no male angels and only female angels exist?
Funny world, it is so filled with female Chauvinists, that people have stopped believing that there are heavenly male creatures too. We are only used to Imps and evil Gnomes which are male [ Hehe... Mission accomplished Ladies!! ] :-)
My ten year old cousin bro was stubborn and didn't accept to the proposed idea.
Gosh!!!... Kids these days.. very tough to please them and answer to their annoying questions. Finally, he came up with a weird name "Ricky", due to some previous sentiments of a dog he had before which was named "Rocky".
Guys will be guys and you can't quite change them and so we decided to go with the name. :-)

Day 4: The biting day
Just when everything seemed fine and we were having fun with our pup, we noticed a sudden change in him. He had a compulsive disorder of nibbling and biting anything that he laid his eyes on. Be it chocolate wrappers, homework notebooks, clothes, foot mats and to my happiness, my GRE barrons too [ I wish he gobbled up the entire thing, so I can have another excuse not to study ] ;-)
Sadly, it didn't just end with non living things, he wanted to bite people too.. :-(
When we called the pet shop and told them about the problem, a man told us that it is quite natural for the dog to behave that way, as his teeth is starting to grow and he would have the urge to nibble at things, just the way a human baby would.
He also advised us to give the pup a Calcium enriched sweetened vegetarian bone, which we had bought along with the other dog accessories.
We tried giving him the sweet and juicy bone, but to our dismay, he was only interested in the round and colorful foot mat and my cousin sister's funky Thailand beach slippers which had plastic grapes bulging on it .
We were able to successfully hide the slipper in the shoe rack, but we couldn't do much about the foot mat. he would keep nibbling at it day and night, relishing it.
Eeeeew!!... Dunno how it excites him so much :-)

The next few days:
The pup's biting habit didn't subside much and he kept chasing people to bite them.
I felt extremely unhappy about this and started avoiding him for a few days. The doggie felt really bad that no one pampered him and caressed him with love and he got into a slight depression and never bothered to eat his yummy milk meal, even if he was forced to. We realized that he needed some affection and tried to pet him and stroke him with care.Unfortunately, it was of no use, he still had the urge to bite us...He dint know tat we were avoiding him only because of that... Poor thing :-(
Sheeshhh..... how we wished we could call the guy who could tame any kind of dog from the popular American TV show "The Dog Whisperer" on National Geographic.
Soon the pup was growing bigger( not taller) , sharper and stronger and his biting habits had reduced too after the doc injected him and trimmed his nails. The doc was indeed surprised at the spunk that this dog had and his playful nature. Pugs are usually supposed to be sober and lazy dogs, but this naughty pup was truly an exception. :-)

And soon my parents returned and it was time for me to go home. I suddenly felt uneasy and sad to leave especially since i became a lot bonded to the dog. Even after I came back home, i couldn't stop thinking about him and the love and affection he showered on me.I realized that humans can never ever shower the love that a dog can. Everyday when i saw him, he would run to me and lick me to show his affection and cuddle me like he met me after years. Even now when i visit my aunts place, he comes running to me with love and he licks me like a lollipop. :-) It feels great to be loved by someone so much and it makes one feel like a celebrity. If someday i feel too lonely i would adopt a lonely puppy and care for him each day. The loyalty and love that he has for me, can never be replaced by any Human Being on planet Earth.

College life

COLLEGE LIFE… Though it wasn’t as good as I expected it to be, I’m getting used to it…

I still remember the first day when we had the orientation for the freshers… Everyone had brought their parents and my dad was too busy to even attend it. He jus dropped me there and said “have a nice day, you’ll have lots of fun”… I was jus looking at the nervous, yet excited students, and parents who kept advising their kids on how they should take their careers more seriously… I’m really glad tat my parents don’t nag like others.. cos they either think its waste of time advising a person like me or they think tat I’m matured enough to handle things..

We were all led to an auditorium, which was quite spacious..

The only problem was tat we were unable to BREATHE….!!!!. Then later we had to listen to the boring achievements of the college… And then came the biggest shocker .. COLL

WORKS ON SATURDAY TOO!!!!!!!!! Omigoshhhhhhhhhhh…. Wat am I doing to my life????????? It was more frustrating to see the students jus nod their heads to glory….

How can they be fine with workin on Saturdays….? :-O They must be nuts…! Then came the next shocker… I learned tat bunking coll is a sin… you have to be present all six days in a week , even if you’re sick, or u have a flu or even if u have jus few more days to live.. I nearly fainted when they told us tat we could attend our own bro’s/sis marriage only if they were getting married on Sundays……!

This was just too hard to digest… I went back home and cried and screamed, but my parents were not bothered... I still remember my dad’s expression… He jus looked up through his reading glasses, made a “don care” expression and went back to reading the newspaper…. And my mom was too busy complaining abt the servant maid’s absence…

Soon I realized tat its no use grumbling and felt tat I had to do justice to the 5 lacs tat I paid.. :-(

Soon I made friends, but most of them were too engrossed in writing with black and blue pens and decorating their front pages of assignments copied from text books and wikipedia… I still remember my first assignment… it was plain and dull, with no black pen headings and under linings and no attractive front page decorated with sketch pens…

My classmates stared at my assignment making me feel like I had some terrible learning disease like dyslexia…. And when the teacher gave the assignments back in class… she gave me a wicked stare, tore my assignments into pieces and gave it to me… No hard feelings for me, but my mom felt really bad... after all it was she who wrote it… :-)

There were great times at coll too and surprisingly a few teachers were fond of me…

I was the favourite student of the Engineering graphics sir and he always refers to me as

“roll no 30”… Though he is really old(as old as my grandpa), he is too perfect with his dimensions and diagrams.. his free hand circles look way better than mine drawn with a compass… He behaves like a cute little child and he fancies the stationery we students bring and enjoys eating chappatis from our college canteen… :-) He often dozes off while conducting tests, which is a great advantage… Then there is this sweet and concerned chemistry teacher who made me eat her tamarind rice when I was really sick... she gave me loads of advice on how to take care of my health and made balls out of her freshly prepared home made tamarind rice and forced me to eat them :-) And of course I should mention abt our extremely young eng sir who often makes us feel really old with his charming speech and bubbling energy… ;-)

First year was quite memorable and we had lots of fun with classmates…

For our second year we had to move to our main block… In the beginning it felt a little weird cos we were so used to being only with our batch in the isolated first year block.

The seniors were really friendly, but it was hard to understand why they were often calling out some guys name when a girl jus passed by... :-)

They were trying to get some attention and always tried of different ways to woo a girl….!

I have only heard of girls gossiping, but I could notice tat the guys gossip more in this place…

I was seen less in my classroom as I was always standing outside HOD’s room for my great achievements… and the lesson I learnt- how to stand with one leg against the wall and one leg down to prevent leg aches :-)

We’ve had great times in the coffee shop in our 2:10 break and I must mention abt this yummy cold chocolate that you get there… simply irresistible and addicting…Sadly, there is no coffee shop anymore now :-(

As far as the coll exams were concerned, I never passed… I felt great wenever I made a double digit… I was a little serious during my semester time wen compared to coll exams… but I was still poor at mugging up stuff (especially becoz im a CBSE student) and I dint know the anna univ exam tactics… later a senior told me the tactics to do well in anna univ exams…

Cram all five units in your head

write headings in black and underline them and write the rest in blue

fill up all 41 pages

if u think a question is out of syllabus, pls attempt it( I love this one)

don’t sleep for more than five hours on the previous day of the exam

if you remember only a few sentences in a question , then either highlight them or write them bigger, so tat the person correcting thinks you know everything

Use a lot of technical terms even if they are not related to the questions

I dunno if these tactics help… But no harm in trying :-)

During the study hols ,I read everything(even the nutritional details and ingredients in food cartons),but not the stuff in my text books....and all that I remember doing in my study hols is going to Malini's terrace, eating packets of bingos and drinking steaming hot coffee and of course bird watching... you know we observed the behavioral patterns of parrots and crows.. We learnt how to identify birds with their flying patterns..We were busy lookin at kittens, tempted to play with them. But we were too scared to do it cos the mother cat is overprotective and ferocious… Malini’s terrace is a mini jungle and diverse with rich flora and fauna… ;-) We once encountered a pair of monkeys which climbed up to the terrace and kept staring at us for a very long time… We ran helter skelter , leaving our books in the terrace… it was adventurous.. :-) We watched a lot of tv, gossiped abt classmates, slept in the afternoons… We do everythin except studying in the study hols..

And the worse part is tat whenever I end up clearing, ppl give me weird stares which actually mean "how the hell did she clear... maybe she chased the papers" :-D

and since I was a favorite student of tat numericals lady, she was literally dumbstruck when she found out tat I had cleared my math paper this semester....and she always

bends her head whenever she notices me.... sheeeeeesh, i dunno why she respects me so much.. ;-) .. I really dunno if I’m popular among the students, but I’m definitely popular among the teachers... I’m always the hot topic in the staff room :-)

And now I’m in my final year of college… I dunno if I would miss coll, but I would definitely miss the students and the fun we had… :-)
